Welcome to my personal food blog!

I am Sharmila Vedam and a CPA/tax accountant by profession, but a passionate cook by choice. 

Due to my husband’s surprise diagnosis of a rare autoimmune disease (VKH) which caused blindness in both his eyes, my husband and I switched (cold turkey) to this WFPBNO lifestyle in the fall of 2016. My husband spent hours and hours researching why his body was hit with rare autoimmune disease. After hours of research we were convinced about #WFPBNO (whole food plant based no oil) lifestyle and how it helps to reverse many different illnesses.  In the last 5+ years, I have thrived in recreating almost all Indian and non-Indian dishes to meet whole food plant-based zero oil standards and mastered the zero oil cooking method.  At our home (husband, myself, our daughters, inlaws/parents) everyone is very passionate about leading this lifestyle (even our college daughter cooks this way at her University apt). My husband and I love to educate/help interested folks to make the switch to this healthy lifestyle.  We also run a private FB group https://www.facebook.com/groups/PLANTBASEDDESI where I shares all my creations and educational information about this whole food plant-based eating. 

I am certified in Plant-based Nutrition from T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies through Ecornell.  I am passionate of Veganism and refuse to eat anything that is not vegan.  My biggest regret is not knowing about cruelties of dairy farming earlier in my life and toxic effects of eating animal products.

I love to travel, watch movies, workout, spend time with family and constantly keep experimenting in my kitchen.
