Oil free Green/Raw Tomato Puliyogare (tamrind rice)

Ingredients for the masala:-

  • 3/4 tbsp channa dhal
  • 3/4 tbsp urad dhal
  • Pinch of methi seeds
  • 1 tbsp coarinder seeds
  • 1 tbsp white sesame seeds
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • Red chillies according to your preference
  • 2 sprigs of curry leaves

Dry roast everything and powder it

Ingredients to prepare this dish:-

  • 3 large green tomatoes
  • For tempering – 1 tsp mustard seeds, 1 tsp spilt urad dhal, 1-2 sprigs of curry leaves, 1/4 tsp hing
  • 1/2-1 cup of dry roasted peanuts (can be substituted with green peas)

Process:-

  • In a pan start with the process of dry tempering of mustard seeds, urad dhal, curry leaves
  • Then add chopped green tomatoes, and cilantro leaves and let it cook till it softens – add little water if needed
  • Add the powdered masala, turmeric powder, salt to taste, Hing and let it cook for 2-3 mins
  • Then add cooked quinoa/rice (here i used leftover rajamudhi rice) and peanuts and mix everything together.
  • Cook it for another 3-4 minutes till all spices are incorporated in along with the rice/quinoa.

Enjoy with Soy yogurt or any other kind of plant based yogurt!!!
